The Microstructure Series
This series was created as a response to images produced by my nephew, Jordan Lubbers, for his Master’s thesis in Geology. His photographs use a Cathode luminescence (CL) Electron Microscope to exam the internal structure of quartz crystals. When I saw his beautiful images, I was moved to respond to them. Their structural beauty captivated my imagination. His images were manipulated and printed out via photo ink jet printer onto Japanese paper which is then collaged with wax medium onto watercolor paper. Each art work is mounted on board and can be easily hung.
